Harare. Econet AI jobs in Zimbabwe are opening up fast, with one of the country’s biggest private hiring pushes in years now underway. It says as much about Zimbabwe’s AI ambitions as it does about the state of its engineering graduate pipeline.
Econet AI, a subsidiary of Econet Wireless Zimbabwe, has launched a recruitment drive for more than 100 engineers as it accelerates its artificial intelligence strategy, in what is expected to be one of the largest single company engineering intakes in Zimbabwe in recent years.
Who Econet AI Is Hiring
Successful candidates will undergo intensive AI training before being deployed across product development, customer support and enterprise solutions. Econet AI chief executive Navdeep Kapur said the company is targeting graduates in electrical engineering, electronics, computer science and robotics, including candidates with honours, master’s and doctoral qualifications. “We are already in the process of onboarding over 70 positions, and we will need more. Even if we don’t hire some now, we want them on file as we are growing very rapidly,” Kapur said.
Local Talent vs. the Diaspora
The company said it has already received applications both from engineers based in Zimbabwe and from Zimbabwean professionals working abroad, which points to real interest in the programme from the diaspora as well as the local market. Officials describe this hiring round as only the first phase of a broader push to expand AI adoption across Zimbabwean businesses more generally.

This comes as the country’s National Artificial Intelligence Strategy for 2026 to 2030 positions AI as a driver of productivity and innovation nationally, giving Econet AI’s hiring spree a policy backdrop beyond one company’s growth plans.
